I'm not receiving emails from the Medical Marijuana Registry System

Emails sent from our online registration system come from noreply@registry.state.co.us. Update your email settings to add us as an approved sender to make sure that you receive emails from us.  

If you aren't receiving emails from the Medical Marijuana Registry System make sure to check your spam folder as well

  1. Click on the gear icon in the top right of the page to be taken to open Quick Settings.
  2. Select ‘See all settings’
  3. Click on the “Filters and Blocked Addresses’ tab
  4. Click on ‘Create a New Filter’
  5. In the ‘From’ field, enter: noreply@registry.state.co.us
  6. Select ‘Create Filter’
  7. Select the checkbox next to ‘Never send it to spam’
  8. Select ‘Create Filter’

  1. On the homepage of your email, click on “Settings”
  2. Select Internet -> email filtering
  3. Click on “Allow Senders”
  4. Click “Add”
  5. In the address field, enter the domain name for state emails: “registry.state.co.us”
  6. Click “OK”
  7. In the event that steps 1 - 6 do not work, repeat steps 4 - 6 with the email address “ noreply@registry.state.co.us

Please use the reset password or unlock account feature to get a new password and unlock your account.

Please use the forgot username feature. A list of your usernames will be sent to the email you used to register. 

Your notifications will be sent to the email you used to create your account when you registered. 

To change the email where you receive notifications:

  1. Log into your account
  2. Click “my account” in left-hand corner
  3. Enter your new email
  4. Save

Patient application

The application processing fee is $29.50. It is non-refundable and is required each time you submit an application. Funds from the fee are used to cover the costs of maintaining the Registry and go towards services such as customer and technical support.

You will able to renew your card within 30 days of the expiration date listed on your card.,If you already have online access to your account, you will receive a notification when you are eligible to renew.

Yes. Physician certifications are only good for one year.

The issue and expiration dates on your card are based on the day your application was approved.
Cards issued for debilitating medical conditions have a registration period of one year.
Cards issued for disabling medical conditions may have a registration period lasting from 60 days to one year. The recommending provider determines the registration period. 

Request online access to your account

  1. Create an account.
  2. Log in.
  3. Click “New Request Access to Patient Registration.”
  4. Enter your information, and upload a PDF or JPEG copy of your valid Colorado ID.
  5. Sign by typing your full legal name. 
  6. Click save to submit your request.

Registry staff will review your request. You will receive an email with more instructions within 3-5 business days.

No. Paper applications are available to individuals who do not have access to internet resources., Please note: Paper applications take 6-8 weeks to receive a response, and all communication with the registry must be through mail should you apply by mail.This allows us to ensure all paper applications are processed consistently.

  1. Log into your account, 
  2. Click on your name,
  3. Select "Physician Certification" on the top panel,
  4. Select the button that says "New",
  5. Using the dropdown, select the certification,
  6. Select "Save"

If you do not see your certification in the dropdown, please verify that all the information for your patient registration is correct. If you find you have made an error, make the change and click “save and submit application”
If you entered your information correctly, contact your physician and check that they have entered the information correctly on the physician certification.

A patient cannot have both a designated caregiver and medical marijuana center cultivating medical marijuana on his or her behalf at any given time. See Colorado Revised Statues § 25-1.5-106 and Department of Revenue Marijuana Enforcement Division regulations. The only exception is for parents of a minor child. Parents are considered a “primary caregiver” for the minor patient, but they can now legally obtain marijuana from a cultivating caregiver OR from a center.

Only homebound and minor patients may have a transporting caregiver. If you are not a homebound or minor patient, you may not have a transporting caregiver.

Submit your application correction online

  1. Log into your account. 
  2. Click “Corrected Documentation.” 
  3. Click “new.”
  4. Upload  a PDF or JPEG of your corrected documents. If you are correcting your signature or your provider certification, upload a copy of your current notification letter.   
  5. Sign by typing your full legal name.
  6. Click “Save” to submit your correction. 

Manage your patient registration

You will be able to update your patient registration information until you add a physician certification.

After you add your physician certification you will not be able to update any information until your registration is approved. Once approved, you will be able to change your address, phone number, email address, and cultivation information by logging in to your account. You will not be able to change your name, social security number, birthday, gender or driver's license information after you submit your application. If you need to change any of this information, please contact us.

Please follow the steps below to add a caregiver or change your cultivation option.

1.Log in to your MMRS account by entering your username and password,

2. Select your name,

3.Select "Cultivation Information" on the top panel,

4.Select the line that says "Active"

5. Within the agreement, go to the bottom of the page and select "Terminate"

6. Click cultivation information and select "New"

7. Choose your new cultivation option

8. Enter the cultivation information you need and select "Submit"

9. If you have a caregiver, your card will show their name once they accept your caregiver agreement

No. The Registry does not track what center a patient is registered with. The Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) at the Department of Revenue tracks center information in their Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance (METRC) system. Patients who choose to get medical marijuana from a licensed center must work directly with the center to sign up for their services and complete the forms required by the medical marijuana center and the MED. Yes. As of Aug. 1, 2017 all physician certifications must be submitted online.

 

If you are writing a provider certification for a renewal applicant, please create a brand new certification.

1. Log into your physician account

2. Select “physician certifications”

3. Click “new” to create a new physician certification. Physician certifications can only be used for one registration period and expire when the registration period ends. Patients must submit new online physician certifications with their annual applications.

Yes. If you submit a provider certification online but your patient would like to apply by paper, please provide the patient with the print out of their provider certification for their records. 

No. Only approved providers can make a recommendation for the use of medical marijuana.
Providers must create and manage their own accounts. Providers should not share their confidential account information with anyone including their office staff.,

Caregiver registration

Senate Bill 15-014 redefined caregiver roles and requires caregivers to register with the Department of Revenue (DOR) starting on January 1, 2017. The new online system enables caregivers to register information with the Department of Revenue to be in compliance with this new law.

Four different types of caregivers were defined in SB15-014:

  • Parents of minor patient (parent of patient under the age of 18).

  • Advising Caregivers (provide advice on medicinal use of marijuana only).

  • Transporting Caregivers (transport marijuana for homebound patients).

  • Cultivating Caregivers (grow marijuana on behalf of patient(s).

Only transporting and cultivating caregiver types are required to register with DOR.

To renew your caregiver registration log into your account and click “save and re-submit registration."

Caregivers must renew their caregiver registration annually. Failure to renew annually will result in revoked patient counts and removal from the system.

The specific laws regarding cultivation vary by municipality. To determine the number of plants you can cultivate, please check the laws, ordinances and rules in the jurisdiction where you live. You may also review Colorado Revised Statute,§ 25-1.5-106. for state laws regarding cultivation.

Parents/legal guardians of minor children listed as the “primary caregiver” do not need to register in the Caregiver Registry unless they are cultivating more than 36 plants for the patient. Parents cultivating fewer than 36 plants are encouraged to register their cultivation location in the Caregiver Registry, but this is not required.

Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statues § 25-1.5-106 (II) A cultivating or transporting primary caregiver shall maintain a list of his or her patients, including the registry identification card number of each patient and a recommended total plant count, at all times.

Data access and security

The Medical Marijuana Registry (MMR) has worked with the Governor’s Office of Information Technology to develop a secure online system for patients, caregivers, and physicians. The system meets all state and federal standards for confidentiality, accessibility, and security. Information provided to the Registry is never sold to third parties. The Registry is confidential, and information is only available to patients, physicians, and caregivers. To maintain the confidentiality and security of protected health information, account holders should not share their username or password with anyone, including family members, friends, physician or dispensary office staff, or any other person.

The new online medical marijuana system fully integrates patient, physician, and caregiver information while continuing to protect and secure confidential information accessible only to those agencies with the legal authority to access registry data.

Patient and Physician Information

Patient and physician information will remain in a secure and confidential database and will be accessible only by designated employees of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment per Colorado law. This information will not be shared with or accessible by the Department of Revenue or any other entity. Law enforcement will have the ability to confirm patient status in the medical marijuana registry only if a patient is approached or arrested by a state or local law enforcement officer, just as the process works now.

Caregiver Information

Caregiver information will be housed in a separate confidential database. Senate Bill 15-014 requires all medical marijuana caregivers to register with the Department of Revenue (DOR) starting on January 1, 2017. Starting in 2017, the DOR is permitted to verify the location of a primary caregiver cultivation or transportation address with a local government or law enforcement agency upon receiving an address-specific request for verification.

Caregivers will be able to see a patient’s registration ID number, and will not be able to see patient names or other identifying information. Caregivers can use the patient registration ID number track the total number of patients assigned to them the total plant count for cultivation and/or transportation assigned to this unique patient ID number.

Each time you access any website file through your web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox), the browser caches (i.e., stores) information so it doesn't have to keep retrieving the same files or images from the remote web site each time you click "Back" or "Forward." You should periodically clear the cache to allow your browser to function more efficiently. This is a best practice and applies to all websites.

A “cookie” is a file created by a web browser, at the request of a website, that is stored on a computer. These files typically store user-specific information such as selections in a form, shopping cart contents, or authentication data. Browsers will normally clear cookies that reach a certain date, but clearing them manually may solve problems with websites or your browser. A browser's “history” is a log of sites that you visit. When you press a browser's Back button, you are moving back one entry in the history log. Browsers will normally clear history at regular intervals, but you may want to clear it manually for privacy and performance reasons.
