The Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response (DCPHR) is responsible for making sure that the state of Colorado is prepared to respond rapidly and effectively to public health concerns and emergencies. DCPHR officially came to exist within the State of Colorado government in July 2021 when the former Division of Disease Control and Environmental Epidemiology Division, State Public Health Laboratory, and Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response joined forces.
Our teams work together closely to respond to disease outbreaks and hazards, as well as monitor, investigate, and control the causes of epidemic, communicable, and preventable diseases. This work also involves promoting equitable access to vaccines and other resources, such as treatments and testing, that impact public health. Additionally, DCPHR responsibly and safely collects, stores, and reports data to provide recommendations during ongoing and emerging public health issues.
